Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says he wants to see the President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama re-elected next year. Medvedev worried about relations between the two countries disrupted if the United States led a figure than Obama.
"Honestly, I would like to see Barack Obama re-elected as President of the United States more than anyone," I Medvedev was quoted as saying by AFP on Monday (6/20/2011).
"If the figure is different to the U.S. President, maybe he has a different purpose (in US-Russian relations)," he continued.
According to Medvedev, he was aware that there are some conservative groups are trying to achieve their ambitions in politics by questioning the U.S. relationship with Russia. "What good are they to criticize? This is just a form of political ambition," according to Medvedev.
Since taking office as Russian President Vladimir Putin replaced, Medvedev continued to improve relations with the U.S.. Uncle Sam's country was regarded as the most important in Russian foreign policy.
Rapprochement between the two countries that used to be involved this cold war, producing a Nuclear Weapons Control Treaty, Russian support for UN resolution against Libya and pembatalkan to equip Iran with S-300 rocket.
But when asked whether the harmonious relationship can continue to run long, with an attitude filosif Medvedev said, "there is no lasting under a month".
